What could be the issue? Well, there are some different reasons for the same. In the guide below, we discuss about the same and the possible solutions to make calls on Jio SIM.

Jio SIM call fail issue – Possible reasons and fixes

Phone doesn’t have VoLTE

This is one of the most common reasons and this is not actually an issue because if the feature is missing in the phone, you simply cannot make calls on your Jio 4G SIM. Just having 4G LTE connectivity on the phone is enough to get data connectivity but for making calls, there’s Voice-over-LTE that is needed.
What’s VoLTE? This is a feature that allows calls over data network. The way data is sent is different and uses a different technology, that is the reason the phone needs to have that feature available, otherwise calling won’t be possible, unless you try any specific workaround for it.

Solution if phone doesn’t have VoLTE:
Reliance Jio has a good solution for this. The app named Jio4GVoice (earlier named as JioJoin) is the one you have to use to make calls if you are not able to directly make calls on the Phone app. The app is exclusively made for Jio SIM and Jio network users and it makes it possible to make HD voice and video calls.
To check if your phone has VoLTE, check the list of VoLTE enabled phones for Jio.

Data network isn’t turned on

This is again dependent on the phone you have. If the phone is VoLTE enabled, you need to check the below settings but if you have a non-VoLTE phone, then it is probably that you have the data turned off. For a phone where you are using the Jio4GVoice app, you won’t be able to make calls if you don’t have the data service activated.
Solution: Keep the data connection active on your phone. Only then the calls will go through, because the calls take data as the source for sending the message across, unlike the standard calling that doesn’t have anything to do with data.

Televerification hasn’t happened

Don’t be confident that your Jio SIM is verified already if you had made a call for it and had got the verification done. Jio verification is separate for data and calls. So, if you are sure that your phone has VoLTE and still the calls are not happening, the non-verification might be a reason.
Solution – Tele-verify your Jio number for calls:
You need to call 1977 for the tele verification. If you had earlier dialled 1800-890-1977, that was only for the data activation and now you will have to dial 1977, or you can actually dial any phone number because it will take you to the Jio verification service and you will be asked to enter the details based on the proof you had provided.

Calls say network busy

If you see this as a problem, with some message saying “All lines in this route are busy” or something similar to this, it is a problem with the other network providers and not with Jio. It is the disagreement to give Jio the interconnect points that are necessary for the call to connect. According to the leading telecom providers, i.e. Airtel, Idea, Vodafone, etc. every call that a receiver is getting, has a charge that the call initiating network has to pay.
Jio is not paying that because according to Reliance, Jio is an IP based network and the calls are made on the Internet. The issue is still on right now and the networks have not yet patched up together.
Solution – Patience, waiting
This is what you can do right now because the network operators have to come to a proper agreement and only then the calls will be successfully happening without a problem. In this case, you cannot do anything from your side because this is with the end network. WhatsApp calling or any alternative till then? You are on a Preview / Welcome offer and have good data to use anyway, right?

Change the APN Settings

To change the APN settings, you can try the following steps.

• Go to settings
• Choose Mobile networks
• Set Preferred network type to LTE & press back button
• Select Access Point Names (APN)
• Scroll down until you see ‘APN protocol' option and change it to IPv4/IPv6
• Again scroll & select ‘Bearer' option & choose ‘LTE'
• Save all the settings
• Turn on your data connection & check the speed

For Rooted Phones

• Download 3G/4G Speed Optimizer apk on your phone, select network speed as 12/28/7 that is the maximum speed and low battery efficiency option. 
• Click on ‘Apply Tweak'.
• Restart your phone and notice the increase in the speed.

• Download ‘Snap VPN‘ from the Play Store. This app is available for free of cost. 
• The app will show many countries and the signal strength against each one will also be displayed.
• Select the country with a good strength and connect to it.

• Once the connection is established, download some files to check the network's speed.

Changing LTE Band

• Download MTK Engineering Mode from the Play Store. You need not download the app if you are aware of the USSD code to enter into it
• Change to LTE Band 40 with 2300 MHz
• Set FDD-LTE to 1800/850 MHz
• Further you can also use Speedify to get even more speed.
• Save all the changes

Reliance Jio to Offer 1 Year of Free 4G with Lyf Smartphones [Report]

In an attempt to hike the sales of its Lyf smartphones, Reliance is reportedly going to offer 1 year of free internet to its existing and new buyers. This offer however may not include unlimited free voice calls and SMS.  

 

Reliance Jio has been creating waves in the market ever since its preview plan offering unlimited free calls, data and SMS for 90 days went official a few weeks back. Now, as per some reports, Reliance is planning to offer Free 4G to Lyf smartphone buyers for an extended period of one year.

Initially, the Reliance Jio Preview offer was rolled out for a handful of Lyf smartphones. However, the increasing demand for Jio SIM cards possibly triggered smartphone OEMs to tie up with Reliance to provide the exclusive Jio Preview offer to their smartphone owners. The first to the race was Samsung and they were closely followed by other counterparts including LG, Asus, Panasonic, Micromax, YU, Alcatel and TCL. Recently, the Reliance Digital stores across the country also started providing Jio SIM cards under the preview offer to any users with 4G smartphones. That said, still now some Reliance stores are denying to offer SIM cards for any random 4G smartphone citing lack of information from their head office.
Nevertheless, if this new report regarding 1 year of complimentary free internet with Lyf phones (for existing as well as new buyers) turn out to be true, we may end up seeing a huge spike in the company’s smartphone sales. Last quarter reports indicate that Lyf smartphones has sprung up the ladder to occupy a fifth place in terms of smartphone shipments in India, and offers like this will only spruce up the sales figures.

It’s however worth noting that this exclusive Preview offer for Lyf phone owners may not come with unlimited voice calls and SMS, that come with the standard 3-month Preview offer. That said, Reliance may also cap the data usage for this exclusive offer to 75GB/month.
Reliance Lyf series of smartphones are being offered in a wide range of prices starting from as low as Rs 2,999 to as high as Rs 20,000. The Lyf smartphones are being offered through a number of local retails shops as well Reliance Digital and Digital Xpress Mini stores across India. Reliance Launches New Jio Dongle 2 Wi-Fi at Rs 1,999

Reliance has launched yet another variant of its JioFi called the Dongle 2. Priced at Rs 1,999 the Dongle 2 doesn't come with a battery and relies on the external power source.

Reliance Jio has been the buzzword ever since it was launched in India with offerings like free calls and the internet for the next three months the Jio SIM has been selling like hot cakes. In fact, the Jio is in so much demand that most of the retailers are running out of SIM card stock. As one might be aware Jio has segregated its offering into two categories one for 4G LTE phone users and the other for 4G WiFi hotspot users. The Jio Dongle 2 is currently retailing at Rs 1,999 and it lets you connect up to 10 devices simultaneously and will also enable Jio Voice. Furthermore, it also comes accompanied with the suite of Jio applications and a 1-Year warranty card.

The accessory in the box includes a wall power adapter for plugging in the dongle which like the earlier hotspot comes with a “Designed in India” labelling. The dongle also comes with two led lights showing the status for 4G and Wi-Fi functionality. Opening the rear panel of the dongle will reveal the micro-SIM slot wherein one needs to insert the Jio SIM. It should be noted that the Jio Dongle 2 is useful mostly for those who carry old desktops and laptops which have no WiFi chips embedded. For most others, the JioFi 2 is a much better device, specially considering that they are priced similarly.
